Are Bull Mastiffs hard dogs to take care of?
Yes Bull Mastiffs can be hard to take care of but not due to high exercise needs, Actually a Bull Mastiff requires relatively little exercise, considering their size. However,if what you say about the owner is true, this dog is NOT a good dog for them. Bull Mastiffs need training & good training at that. The earlier the better.Much like a Rotti a full grown Bull Mastiff is stronger than the average person. No training= no control. Also Bull Mastiffs tend to be a one person dog & need to have that bond with a person. They deal well with a family, but will always bond to one more than anyone else. They tend to be leary of strangers. They are highly intelligent, but with that they can be stubborn. They NEED a firm, consistant owner, who has the time, energy & knowledge to care for them. The Bull Mastiff's original purpose was as a night guard, that instinct tends to show itself & needs to be understood & respected by their owner. A Bull Mastiff who doesn't have the right owner is a very large liability & danger. With the right owner they reach their full potential & greatness.
