My 9 month old won't take her sippy cup?

For the past few weeks, I've been trying to teach my 9 month old how to drink from a sippy cup. The doctor says I need to have her off the bottle within the next few months, but she just chews on the spout and throws it. Any tips on how to get her to accept it?
